Day 2

We awoke nice and early, overexcited about the helicopter ride! Braving the subway for the first time, we managed a ride downtown to the pier. A beautiful sight met us as we stepped off the subway - a bum had pooed himself. He really should have thought about the consequences of wearing white trousers when he considered his outfit choice for the day. Matthew is still confused about the tipping and insists on checking every time we speak to someone - 'Should I give them a tip?'. So far he has tipped a man just for giving us directions to the helipad and all done in a comedy American accent that he has adopted!
All set for the helicopter ride- only 3 of us booked on the flight. This was the most amazing experience - thanks to Katie and the gang for giving us the perfect way to see Manhattan on our first day. We wanted to do it again and again!
A day of being total tourists followed. Distastefully we were offered photos of 9/11 next to Ground Zero, which were met with disapproving looks from the newlyweds. A spot of lunch in Little Italy found Lynne in her favourite part of NY so far. Every person who was fat and wearing shades was pointed out as being potential mafia. A fun game for Lynne, which allowed Matthew to switch off and take in his surroundings!
Naptime was in order to fully prepare our stomachs for the evening- Helen's gift! On entering the Steakhouse, Lynne ever so subtly played the honeymoon card, which turned into more free champagne! Check the photos for how amazing the steak was, cooked over a 1800 degree heat and served on 500 degree plates. I think this was the happiest Matt has ever been about food! Free pudding also followed - thanks Helen, it was another perfect gift for the 2 of us!
Top of the Rock followed, to see the sights by night and then home to bed. An amazing day!
