Day 8

Laundry Day! Our wonderful hosts allowed us to use their facilities, so Matthew now has clean pants- hooray! Spent a lazy day in Charlottesvillle, being directed around by a Sat Nav with a speech impediment. Matthew made his first driving error - Going down the street on the left hand side! We attempted to do the touristy thing by going to Monticello, home of Thomas Jefferson, but refused to pay the entrance fee of $22 each. Instead, we did the Matt and Lynne thing - went for food! After naptime, we witnessed a real thunderstorm before heading out again for dinner and drinks. Matthew’s appetite was satisfied by crawfish gumbo and beer. Love Cannon provided the entertainment for the evening, playing bluegrass versions of well known songs. This is much better than it sounds and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun was a personal favourite! A rat in a shop window provided much entertainment for the locals, while us hardened city folk barely batted an eyelid. Have had an amazing time catching up with Michael and Sage- thanks guys!
